To Fight - Or Not
We often fight hard to keep something from slipping right through our fingers. Dreams, jobs, relationships. We choose our battles but we are so afraid of losing them we sometimes fight without thinking. All the while we should have our weapons in place before sending out the first war cry. If you go to battle without the right weapons you might as well retreat before you even get there. I’m not talking about worldly weapons like fists, knives and guns. I’m talking about belts, breastplates, shields, helmets and swords – God’s armor. No matter what battle you’re facing, these are all you need. Use them! They contain truth, righteousness, faith and salvation. The strongest weapons available to you!
If your battle is something you truly want to fight for, then once all your armor is in place, fight as long and as hard as you can until you’re exhausted and you can fight no more. Give it all you’ve got. If the enemy has not been defeated before you collapse of exhaustion, don’t give up – surrender it to God. We’ve fought long and hard enough in our own strength that it’s time to hand it over to God and let Him continue the fight. He will fight for us and He never loses.
But, there are times when He chooses to leave the battle we handed over to Him and we realize it’s a battle we never should have fought to begin with. Why? Because He has something better for us. A better job, brighter dreams, rock-solid relationships. Trust Him with it. The sooner we let go of what we had - the sooner we can grasp the next thing God has in line for us. Don’t delay a tremendous blessing by holding on to the past too tightly. Fight the good fight if you see fit. Give it to God when you can’t see the rest because His plan is perfect. He knows EVERYTHING you face today, tomorrow, next week, next year. He’s a master at what He does. Disappointment may set in for a moment, but take a deep breath, look up and know that God has this in the palm of His hand and He will work everything out according to His will. It may be a difficult process for you, but rest assured, God’s got your back and will move you and your circumstances to exactly where He wants! Fight the good fight. Never surrender to your enemy. Surrender only to God!
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. Exodus 14:14
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:13-17
Have a blessed day!
